Stirk House – A Stunning Wedding Venue in the Ribble Valley
I’ve had the pleasure of working at Stirk House on numerous occasions, and it’s always a venue I look forward to returning to.
Set in the beautiful countryside around Gisburn, close to Clitheroe and surrounded by the stunning Ribble Valley, Stirk House is a fantastic choice for couples looking for a beautiful Lancashire wedding venue.
The historic country house, picturesque grounds and impressive function spaces provide an amazing setting for everything from intimate celebrations to large wedding parties.
And when it comes to the evening reception, that large dance floor gives everyone plenty of room to let their hair down!
Cake Cut & First Dance
Once the evening reception was ready to get underway, I gathered guests around the dance floor for the cake cutting before introducing Fliss & Carl for their first dance.
The newlyweds chose Songbird, performed by John Adams, as the soundtrack to their first dance.
They enjoyed a few moments together on the dance floor before I invited their family and friends to join them halfway through the song.
It worked perfectly, with guests quickly filling the large dance floor at Stirk House and giving us the ideal launchpad for the evening party.
70s Classics Through to Modern Floorfillers
From there, it was time to turn things up!
Fliss & Carl wanted a great mixture of music throughout their evening reception, so I worked through a selection of party hits spanning the decades, from classic 70s favourites through to newer wedding floorfillers.
As always, I was happy to keep things flexible. I read the room, take requests and respond to what’s happening on the dance floor, making sure the music keeps the party moving.
With a great mix of guests and plenty of energy in the room, the dance floor stayed busy throughout the evening.
A 1am Finale to Make Me Smile
After a fantastic night of dancing, we reached the end of the reception at 1am.
For the big finale, Fliss & Carl chose the brilliant “Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)” by Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel.
A fantastic singalong choice and a brilliant way to bring the evening to a close!
There’s something about finishing a wedding with a song that gets everyone singing together, and this was no exception.
