Last night I had the pleasure of providing my wedding DJ services in East Lancashire for the beautiful evening reception of Mr & Mrs Cadwick at the Higher Trapp Hotel in Simonstone, Burnley. This charming countryside venue was the perfect backdrop for Melissa & Rob’s intimate celebration with their closest family and friends.

A Relaxed, Family-Friendly Wedding Reception in Burnley

With around 30 guests, including several children, the evening began with a selection of current kids’ favourites to help warm up the dance floor. This set the tone for a laid-back, family-friendly wedding party where everyone felt involved right from the start.

As more guests gathered, we moved on to the traditional moments. Everyone was invited to gather around the dance floor for the cake cutting followed by the first dance. Melissa & Rob had prepared their own short routine, which went down brilliantly with their guests and made for some lovely memories.

Wedding Party Classics & Cheesy Dancefloor Favourites

Ahead of the big day, Rob let me know that he wanted plenty of cheesy party hits and classic party dances – and they absolutely went down a storm! From singalongs to dancefloor throwbacks, guests were more than happy to get into the spirit of things, creating a fun, upbeat atmosphere from start to finish.

The night flew by, and before we knew it, it was time for the final song. Earlier in the evening, Rob had mentioned that he and Melissa first met while Olly Murs – “Wrapped Up” was playing. It only felt right to close the night with that track – the perfect ending to their perfect day.
