If you’re searching for a Wedding DJ at The Imperial Hotel Blackpool, a professional Blackpool wedding DJ, or an experienced Fylde Coast wedding DJ who knows this iconic venue inside out, I’m DJ Andy B of Andy B Events, and I recently had the pleasure of providing the evening entertainment for Andy & Lorna – now Mr & Mrs Bennett – at the historic Imperial Hotel Blackpool.
As the supplier of choice for DJs and entertainment at the Imperial Hotel Blackpool, I have the pleasure of covering many of the weddings held at this fantastic Lancashire wedding venue. It’s always a privilege to return, and this particular celebration was a lovely, intimate Tuesday night wedding party in one of my favourite rooms at the hotel.
The Imperial Hotel Blackpool – A Historic Wedding Venue on the Fylde Coast
The Imperial Hotel Blackpool is one of the town’s most recognisable and historic hotels, and its fantastic seafront location makes it a brilliant choice for couples planning a wedding on the Fylde Coast.
I’ve entertained at numerous weddings here over the years, and the venue offers a great choice of function rooms for celebrations of different sizes.
For Andy & Lorna’s wedding, the party took place in the Louis Room, a lovely space for smaller and more intimate wedding receptions, with views overlooking the famous Blackpool seafront.
There’s something particularly special about being able to enjoy a wedding celebration with the lights of Blackpool and the sea front just outside the windows.
A Tuesday Night Wedding Party in the Louis Room
This was a relatively intimate wedding reception, but as I’ve discovered many times over the years, you don’t need hundreds of guests to create an incredible wedding party!
Andy & Lorna had a great group of family and friends, and they had a clear idea of the type of music they wanted throughout the evening.
The brief was essentially a fantastic mix of country, party classics, 80s, modern pop, rock and alternative music, with something for everyone.
And that gave me plenty to work with!
Country Music & Their First Dance
Country music was a big part of Andy & Lorna’s musical tastes, so it was only fitting that they chose one of their favourite country songs for their first dance.
I gathered everyone around the dance floor before introducing the newlyweds for their special first dance as husband and wife.
They enjoyed a few moments together before I invited their family and friends to join them halfway through the song.
It’s one of my favourite ways to launch the evening’s dancing because it gets guests involved straight away and turns the first dance into the beginning of the party rather than simply a formal moment.
Country, Kids’ Party Hits, 80s, Pop & Rock
Andy & Lorna had given me a great idea of the musical direction they wanted before the wedding, allowing me to build an evening that reflected their tastes while still keeping guests of all ages involved.
Early in the evening, we had some kids’ party favourites, helping the younger guests get involved before moving through a really varied soundtrack.
As the evening progressed, we brought in:
- Modern country favourites
- Classic 80s hits
- Cheesy party favourites
- Taylor Swift
- Rock classics
- Alternative anthems
- Linkin Park and heavier favourites
Linkin Park was particularly important to Lorna, so naturally we had to work some of their music into the evening!
This kind of variety is exactly why I enjoy taking a personalised approach to wedding DJing. I don’t believe every wedding needs the same playlist. Instead, I work with each couple beforehand, take requests on the night and read the dance floor to create a soundtrack that feels like their wedding.
A Great Wedding Party at the Imperial Hotel Blackpool
Despite being a Tuesday night, the Louis Room had a brilliant atmosphere throughout the evening.
From country favourites and cheesy party classics through to Taylor Swift and Linkin Park, the music reflected Andy & Lorna perfectly and gave guests plenty of opportunities to get involved.
It was another great reminder that a smaller, more intimate wedding can still produce a fantastic party atmosphere when you’ve got the right people, the right music and a DJ who knows how to bring it all together.
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Bennett!
