1st April ’14 – Pleased to be involved in the NCP ‘Breakthrough Event’ annual conference hosted at the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool.
I was hired primarily for my DJ services but also got involved in the room theming for the event too. As this was their first conference in Blackpool, they went for a sea side theme! So, we spent the afternoon getting the Washington Suite of the hotel ready for the evening party, which, as well as the usual disco, poseur tables & chill out areas, also included several themed props & decorations.
Once the actual conference had finished in the Lancastrian Suite, this room had to be turned around for the evening dinner & awards. The theming in here included blue chair covers, light house centre pieces & the actually dinner itself which was fish & chips (of course!) served in a bucket & spade!
Once the dinner was over, guests made their way into the Washington suite where I started a warm up set whilst they had a go on the various props & photo opportunities. It wasn’t long before I started getting requests & it was apparent they were ready to party!
Real mix of music tastes which kept the dance floor buzzing until 3am! Lots of chart & R&B, but plenty of classics & cheese thrown in too, also requests for some Bhangra music which wasn’t a problem & great to see all our dancers getting into the spirit of the music!
Originally, I was asked to finish at 2am, so did a finale to ‘New York New York’, but it was clear no one was going to bed that early!
