1st June ’13 – Hired as mobile DJ for Helen’s 50th birthday party at Saranya Thai restaurant & bar on Pleasant Street in Lytham St Annes. They had taken over the first & second floor of this popular Lytham restaurant for their celebrations. They started off with a buffet style banquet on the first floor, before coming up to join me on the 2nd floor bar.
As well as the disco, Helen also wanted some karaoke! As it goes, I don’t actually have my own karaoke set up, I usually leave that to the other DJ’s! But, the restaurant had a set up we were able to use & I was happy to host it. Great fun night! The upstairs bar filled up completely, most guests standing, which is great for a DJ, they had no choice but to dance! Everyone got into the spirit of the karaoke too, so I alternated guests singing with popular party tunes from all eras to keep the party flowing nicely. Of course, we all sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Helen! What I didn’t realise as I’m not really a big sports fan, is that Helen’s husband is Brian Ashton who is World renowned as a former rugby player & England head coach. There were a few of his rugby buddies attending & Bill Beaumont got up to sing the Beatles ‘Twist n Shout’!
