17th February ’13 – Hired as wedding DJ for Mr & Mrs Harrison’s big day at the Wood Hall Hotel & Spa near Wetherby, Yorkshire. First time I’ve played at Wood Hall hotel, a fab country house hotel originally built in 1750, set down a long private drive, Wood Hall is perched high on a hill among 100 acres, with fine views of the surrounding area, perfect for wedding parties.

The daytime proceedings had over run somewhat, so as soon as the wedding breakfast finished, we got set up for the evening as quick as possible & let guests back in. Once guests had settled back in, we rounded everyone up for the cake cutting & first dance which was performed to Florence & the Machine ‘You got the love’. They had actually choreographed a whole dance routine to it which was pretty impressive!
After the first dance, Paul performed his evening set which was a lively party set finishing with a crowd pleasing version of ‘Can’t take my eyes off you’ which the whole room joined in. After Paul’s set, it was officially the buffet, but I decided to play straight through anyway. The bride & groom had sent me a list of 20 odd songs (some from guests) which was a really mix of music, easier for me to post the list than try to explain! – Take that- Rule the World, Black Eyed Peas – I Gotta a Feeling, Tinie Tempah – Drinking from the Bottle, Valerie, Greatest Day – Take That,James – Sit Down, Elvis,northern soul, Rebel Rebel David Bowie, Moves like Jagger – Maroon 5, Let the music play by Shannon, Hips don’t lie by Shakira, Fools Gold by Stone Roses,Billy Jean by Michael Jackson, Tainted Love by Soft Cell, Ain’t Nobody by Chaka Khan, Rhythm is a dancer by Snap!, Killer by Seal, Love Cats by the Cure, Addicted to Love by Robert Palmer, Tocas Miracle by Fragma, Tell it to my Heart – Taylor Dane, Next to me – Emeli Sande,I’m so excited – Pointer Sisters,Gangnam Style,Uptown Girl – Billy Joel
As you can see, quite a mix! Kept the dance floor packed all night right through till the finale to Fun ‘we are young’. I was booked till 12am, at 12.15, I finally turned the music off & guests went through to the residents bar, I wouldn’t be surprised if some are still there!
