19th September ’12 – Was pleased to be hired as wedding DJ for Mr & Mrs Li’s wedding day at the Glamorous Chinese restaurant which is part of the Wing Yip Business centre quite close to central Manchester. As well as my DJ services, Chun had also hired our 10ft black & white dance floor for the big day.
I was booked to start at 4pm, with guests arriving to the 2nd floor function room of this large Chinese restaurant. I played the Chinese wedding song as guests arrived & for the bride & groom’s entrance. Once they arrived, Ly (the bride) changed into her red Chinese dress for the tea ceremony & photos. During this time & throughout the start of the banquet, as requested, I played some music from the ‘wedding brides’ piano’. Once into the banquet (or wedding breakfast), I left some suitable light background music on as I was invited to join in the banquet!
After food & photos with the bride & groom at all the guest tables, the bride changed into a formal evening dress for the reception. They had picked ‘Nothing else matters’ by Lucie Silvas for their first dance.
They had given me a reasonable sized playlist which was fairly mainstream but with a slight lean towards RnB, although they did have a few cheesy classics in there too! I also managed to play some requests from guests on the night too, the highlight was a Korean dance number (which a guest had on their ipod) which the guests went wild too!
