4th June ’12 – Hired as wedding DJ for Ricky & Zoe Wilmer’s big day at Soughton Hall in Northop, Flintshire. This is a fab venue for wedding parties. Only the 2nd time I’ve played at Soughton Hall. The first time, I was in the main house at the front of the building. On this occasion we were in the permanent marquee round the back which makes for a lovely summer setting.
They had also booked a singer who was nothing to do with me. In fairness, she did really well. She performed throughout the wedding breakfast & a couple of shorter sets throughout the evening. I always say having the right live entertainment on during your wedding party will definitely improve the success of it.
We also had the fun casino tables in as a bit of peripheral entertainment in the early evening which were really popular. We had roulette & blackjack which ran from 8.30pm till 10.30pm.
Their first dance was performed to Take That’s ‘Greatest Day’. They didn’t give me a playlist, just asked for mostly current music with a few classics thrown in, which was fine by me! On the night, we also had requests for some of those cheesy 90’s dance favourites, the stags wanted some Guetta tunes (not sure if they had been to one of his gigs for the stag do) & I played ‘brothers & sisters’ for the bride.
Wild night! & a huge finale to Take That’s ‘Never Forget’ (Bride was obviously a Take That fan!) I could still hear guests singing along as I drove off some 40 minutes later! All the best to Mr & Mrs Wilmer!
