3rd June ’12 – Was hired as wedding DJ for the evening reception of Dr & Mrs Mills at Hollin Hall Country House Hotel, Macclesfield, Cheshire. Lucy the bride had booked me from 6.30pm till midnight at this fab little wedding venue in the Cheshire countryside. First time I’ve played at Hollin Hall & was suitably impressed.
The happy couple had decided against having a first dance which is fairly unusual. However, the best man & the groom both did a speech in the early evening which got everyone’s attention. We had the buffet shortly after this. Then it was time to get the disco going! The bride had sent me a list of suggestions from one of her friends which consisted mainly of Soul & Motown favourites, with some funk, 80’s & Northern Soul thrown in for good measure which was all well received, also had quite a few diverse requests on the evening, which actually went better than I imagined! The only request from the groom was ‘Loco in Acapulco’!
Before we knew it, was time to say good night. Got everyone up for a finale to ‘New York New York’, a popular (if a little cheesy!) finish anyway, but extra significance tonight as they were off to New York for their honeymoon!
