14th June ’12 – Was hired as DJ for the evening at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel at the NEC. The event was an evening dinner dance in the Kings Suite for delegates attending the Cancer Outcomes Conference hosted by the NCIN (national cancer intelligence network).
Before I got started, we had a little after dinner entertainment from 2 guests who had been patients & successfully treated. First up was a young man playing the oboe, then we had a lady singer, both were very well received.
Then it was on with the disco, we had a cracking night! The party of 400 plus delegates were obviously ready to let their hair down! Played a mix accross the board, lots of requests for everything from 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s & the more recent chart, dance & party favourites!
The bar closed at midnight, but we had 50 or so guests who were clearly not ready for bed! Just before 1am, security came by to let me know I had to finish at 1am. Some guests looked like they were off in search of the residents bar, must have been a few who didn’t make breakfast!
