19th May ’12 – Was hired as wedding DJ at Heskin Hall on the outskirts of Chorley for the wedding party of Mr & Mrs Higginson. First time I’ve played at Heskin Hall, which is a grade 1 listed manor house, fab little venue for weddings, very diferent from your typical hotel function room!
The bride & groom were a little unconventional in their music choices. First dance was performed to Vonda Shepherd & Robert Downey Jr ‘Chances are’ (actually the 2nd time I’ve played this as a first dance, found it on the Ally Mcbeal soundtrack). Then this was followed by ‘Bridge over troubled water’ for the bride to dance with her father too.
Other songs on the request list included: Samson – Regina Spektor, Angels – Sarah Mclaughlin, Fools Rush In – Ricky Nelson, Sweet Caroline – Neil Diamond, A Thousand Years – Christina Perri, What a Wonderful World – Daniel O’Donnell (for Ria the bride to dance with her nana) & The Maltese Calypso (for the mayor and mayoress of Malta who were in attendance!).
