7th January ’12 – My first disco of the year was a wedding disco at the Holiday Inn, Bolton. Mr & Mrs Brewer actually got married in Las Vegas around 6 weeks previously, but held an evening party at the Bolton Holiday Inn for the benefit of all those who weren’t able to attend the wedding. First time I’ve played there, not a bad venue, couple of nice function suites. We were in the Ashton rooms with approx 100 guests which filled the room quite nicely. We had some speeches in the early evening followed by a cake cutting, then the happy couple performed a first dance to Elvis ‘Can’t help falling in love’. We only had time for a couple of songs after that before the buffet came out. After everybody was fed & watered(!) it was time for the main disco. Played all the usual wedding favourites & had quite a few requests on the night, including a few party dances! I must confess I wouldn’t normally play them at a wedding disco (I usually save the party dances for kids parties!), but everyone got into the spirit & joined in! We also had some rock fans. Cue a few old soft rock favourites like Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams and Guns & Roses! 1am was the finishing time & we did a big finish involving ‘Viva Las Vegas’!
All the best to Mr & Mrs Brewer!
